Families First Bedfordshire has been overwhelmed by the generosity of local charitable trusts and organisations for the support of our vital work with vulnerable children and families in need.
We were delighted to receive grants awarded by Councillor Forth & Councillor Uko from the Goldington Ward Fund and The Gale Charitable Trust which enabled us to organise a Christmas trip to Gulliver’s Land Milton Keynes for the women and children who access our Horizons Programme. The funds also extended to us facilitating winter crafts and stocking up on valuable art supplies. Furthermore, we have secured funding from The Neighbourly Charitable Trust and are the recipients of Co-op local community fund up until the 27 October 2018 which will enable us to plan a programme of summer events for our Horizons families.
Donations over the Christmas period from Tesco, Bedford Modern School and St Mary’s Church provided our families with much needed essential everyday items, edible goods and toys. The children from Goldington and Queens Park Community Nurseries enjoyed a trip to Stagsden Christmas Trees and were lucky enough to be donated two trees for the nurseries which they took much pleasure in decorating upon their return! Waitrose kindly donated bags of toiletries and nappies which have been gratefully received by our families.
Queens Park Community Nursery welcomed a visit from Councillor Masud back in October 2017 who in conjunction with Councillor Yasin has allocated Queens Park Ward funding for new multi-cultural toys and resources for the children. We are also excited to launch a garden improvement project at Queens Park Community Nursery which will promote opportunities for ‘risky play’ and the development of gross motor skills. An application has been submitted to Tesco Bags of Help to part fund this project and we have already received a welcomed donation from WHSmith Group Charitable Trust which has been assigned to this cause. We are delighted to be working with Pentagon Play again who provided the garden design and equipment for our Goldington Community Nursery Garden Project in 2017.
We look forward to holding a Cream Tea in celebration of Mother’s Day; to acknowledge the achievements of our wonderful women. The event has been kindly supported by Tesco.
