Goldington Community Nursery
About
Goldington Community Nursery (GCN) is located on the east side of Bedford Borough and offers full day care between the hours of 8am to 5pm, term-time only, for children aged 6 months-5 years. GCN originally opened in 2002 under the name of Smarteez Neighbourhood Nursery and was rebranded in 2017 when the Charity opened Queens Park Community Nursery.
In the Nursery’s most recent OFSTED inspection (June 2018) all areas were judged as ‘Good’ with the contribution of the early years provision to children’s wellbeing as ‘Outstanding’. You can download a full copy of the report from the OFSTED website.
Families First Bedfordshire Nurseries invest in healthy relationships with children, parents/carers, and the community, to build the foundations for a successful transition into school life. We achieve this by:
Relationship Based Practice
Staff practice is based on the ‘Five To Thrive’ Approach and its 5 key activities for healthy brain development – Respond, Cuddle/Engage, Relax, Play and Talk, to ensure good quality interactions with children, parents and their peers. In turn this promotes the key milestones of children’s social and emotional development.

Our Environment
Families First Bedfordshire Nurseries provide a secure and loving space for children and families to grow. Children have the opportunity to develop in an organised, supportive and challenging environment to develop to their full potential. We recognise that each stage of a child’s development has unique characteristics that influence how a child will experience his or her environment, which will determine the direction of their brain development.
